BYD recalls Shark bakkie over spare wheel runaway risk

• BYD recalls 32,009 Shark 6 plug-in hybrids in Australia due to spare wheel runaway risk
• The recall affects Premium models manufactured between 29 August 2024 and 12 June 2026, as well as Performance units built between 27 January 2026 and 15 June 2026
• BYD will replace the spare wheel lifter assembly with an updated design at no cost to owners, which may take 30 minutes to implement, and owners are advised to remove their spare wheel by following the instructions in their owner's handbook
