• The power station has had six different ownership phases since 2001, and was initially run by Kelvin Holdings, one of South Africa's earliest independent power producers
• The consortium was unable to upgrade the power station adequately, and in 2003, Kelvin was sold to the UK-based independent power producer Globeleq
