Good news for South Africa expected next week
- South Africa's headline inflation is expected to ease to between 4.3% y/y and 4.8% y/y, down from 5.0% y/y in June.
- The expected decrease in inflation is attributed to a sizeable petrol price cut in July and lower food inflation, which eased further from 1.4% to about 0.9%.
- The Reserve Bank's 3% target with a one-percentage-point band may be met with core inflation forecast to ease from 4.1% to 3.9%.
