Transnet wants R35 billion more from the government

• Transnet is seeking R35 billion from the government for projects through 2030.
• The funding request is in addition to the R13 billion Transnet has already received from the Budget Facility for Infrastructure, and will be used to upgrade railways and equipment.
• The upgrades are expected to increase freight capacity by 24 million tonnes over the next 18 months, which could help revive the South African economy.
