South Africa resuming R339 million road project two years after it was abandoned

• The South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL) will resume construction of the R510 national road in Limpopo later this year, two years after it was abandoned.
• The project, initially budgeted at R400 million, has seen SANRAL spend over R600 million to date, with the new contract valued at R339 million and expected to be completed by November 2027.
• The resumption of the project has been welcomed by the Limpopo branch of the Freedom Front Plus, citing the need for improved road conditions to reduce the risk of accidents, which have already caused several serious and fatal incidents.
