Who needs a visa for South Africa? Here's the list as R500 ETA fee looms

• Citizens from the following countries need a visa for South Africa: Europe (except Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Denmark), North America (except United States, Canada), Asia (except Singapore, Hong Kong), Middle East (except Qatar, United Arab Emirates), Oceania (except Singapore), and South America (except Brazil, Argentina, Chile).
• South Africa is introducing an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system to replace traditional paper-based processes with an online travel authorisation platform, with the proposed R500 fee affecting travellers who are required to obtain an ETA before entering the country.
• The introduction of the ETA system is expected to bring South Africa in line with other countries that use electronic travel authorisation systems, and may lead to additional digital travel authorisation steps for citizens of visa-exempt countries in the future.
