Eskom wants to charge solar users and other people for not using its electricity

- The National Energy Regulator of South Africa published a consultation paper to finalise Eskom's approved tariff increase and adjusted fixed charges for the 2027/28 financial year.
- Eskom Direct customers will see a significant increase in their fixed monthly fees, disproportionately affecting households with solar panels and less affluent households.
