E-hailing and taxi industry team up for electric vehicle rollout in South Africa’s richest city

• Bolt has deployed a fleet of 500 electric vehicles across all of its markets in South Africa by December 2026, in partnership with the South African Meter Taxi and E-Hailing Association (SAMTEA) and Chinese EV maker Dongfeng.
• The South African Meter Taxi and E-Hailing Association (SAMTEA) will join Bolt and EV maker BYD to support the rollout of electric vehicles in Johannesburg.
• The partnership between e-hailing and taxi industries in Johannesburg aims to create a more inclusive, integrated and future-ready mobility ecosystem.
