Former Home Affairs officials arrested for allegedly selling South African passports for R100,000 each

Two former Home Affairs officials have been arrested for allegedly selling South African passports for R100,000 each, marking the latest blow to the department's ongoing fight against corruption. The arrests follow a joint investigation by the department's Counter Corruption Unit and the Hawks, which uncovered the syndicate in 2022. This latest development is part of a broader trend of accountability, as 98 officials have been dismissed and 42 have been arrested since the start of the seventh administration.
