Thieves steal R1.88 million worth of computer equipment from South African taxman

• A burglary occurred at the SARS Alberton Campus in which ICT equipment to the value of approximately R1.7 million was stolen.
• These incidents were reported in the taxman’s report for the financial year running from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026.
• SARS said it was still engaging with the security company to recoup losses related to the stolen equipment, but did not disclose further details.
