Ramaphosa faces fallout from United States anti-terrorism case
- President Cyril Ramaphosa could be drawn into MTN Group’s legal battle in the United States over allegations that the company did business with terrorist organisations in Iran.
- The telecom said it was preparing for its first opportunity to present evidence to disprove the plaintiffs’ allegations, The Zobay case involved more than 50 American citizens who claimed that MTN did business with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
- MTN may seek to settle with the plaintiffs in the discovery phase before a full-blown trial begins in New York.
