Good news for Uber and Bolt drivers
- The Gauteng Provincial Government has launched the Gauteng public transport regulatory information system to digitise the processing of operating licences in the province.
- The new digital system could help clear an operating licence backlog in the province that dates back as far as 2009, and is designed to modernise the operating-licence system, improve regulatory compliance, and process applications faster.
- Gauteng MEC for transport, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, has prioritised the processing of operating licences for e-hailing drivers, saying they should come forward to apply and regularise themselves.
