BEE makes South Africans poorer
A South African court has ruled in favour of Sakeliga, a company that claims the country's Black Economic Empowerment regulations have made the average citizen poorer. CEO Piet le Roux likened these policies to "domestic sanctions" that unfairly disfavours a specific population from participating in the economy. The Pretoria High Court's decision is seen as a significant victory for Sakeliga, which had challenged stringent BEE licensing requirements imposed by the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority.
