South Africa’s largest mall to get 6th biggest solar power system of its kind
- Fourways Mall will get a rooftop solar power system with a peak capacity of 6.3 megawatts (6.3MWp) as part of a broader sustainability push managed by the mall's asset and property managers.
- The planned development was detailed in the financial results of Accelerate Property Fund, which owns half of the mall, and Azrapart owns the other half. The mall's power supply will be transitioning to renewable energy to reduce its environmental impact and ensure energy security.
- The Fourways Mall facility will not even be in the top five largest mall-based solar power systems in South Africa, with the largest system being the Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Umhlanga, which boasts a capacity of 7.67 MWp.
