Massive social grant crackdown in South Africa

- The agency has intensified efforts to identify irregular payments, verify beneficiaries’ financial circumstances, and crack down on fraud.
- SASSA paid R50 million to deceased recipients during the 2022/23 financial year and R31 million in 2023/24, according to the figures provided.
