South Africa's state-owned transport company, Transnet, is on the hunt for a partner to spearhead its R44 billion Ngqura manganese export corridor project, a move aimed at modernizing the country's steelmaking infrastructure. The current fragmented and inefficient harbours at Port Elizabeth and Ngqura are already straining the system, resulting in costly road haulage, increased logistics expenses, and growing environmental and social concerns. With a Feb. 26 deadline for applications, Transnet is seeking a reliable partner to revamp the system and unlock the full potential of South Africa's manganese exports.
