New rules for traffic police in South Africa – including when they can arrest you

• Traffic wardens must complete an accredited qualification or skills programme approved by the QCTO or SETA.
• The new rules outline traffic wardens' duties as law enforcement officials, including issuing notices for parked vehicle infringements and enforcing regulations regarding stray, injured, or dead animals on public roads.
• Traffic wardens can arrest offenders without a warrant when an offence is committed in their presence, including drunk driving, reckless or negligent driving, and obstructing an officer in the execution of their duty.
